Welcome

We are a non-profit lineage society dedicated to preserving the history of our Mayflower ancestors through education and research.

Welcome
to the Mayflower
Society
of New York

The landing of the Mayflower and its Pilgrim passengers in 1620 serves as a story of courage – and community.

The New York Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of New York (“the Society”) is a membership community that is active and growing.

The Society offers programs and events that foster an appreciation of the Mayflower Pilgrims’ significant role in American history.

Through our annual events, members have an opportunity to experience the pride – and fun – in beloging to the Society. Our annual events include the March Cousins dinner, often with a guest speaker, a June summer solstice party held with other genealogical societies, a September fall reception and, of course, the Annual Mayflower Debutante Ball held in the first weekend in November. The Ball, which serves as our major fundraiser, has been taking place for the past 66 years. Monies raised from the Ball are used to help support our educational outreach programs, which work with teachers and students to gain a better understanding of American history.

We can only imagine the experience the Pilgrims had on the Mayflower voyage. However, being a member of the Society can provide an imaginary step back in history to a time that was so consequential to the growth of our country.

Our Mission:

“The charter of the Society states as its purpose, to assist in the education of Americans to the great
heritage of liberty and law exemplified
by the founders of our country.”

Can You Trace Your Family Tree To A Mayflower Passenger?

If you have documentation that leads you to believe you may be descended from a passenger on the Mayflower voyage of 1620 that terminated on the shores of New England at Plymouth, you may be eligible to join the Society.

A brief history on the founding of the Society.

The Mayflower Ball is the main fund-raising event of the New York State Society for its Educational Programs.
